Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Idris al-Shafi'i widely known as “Imam al Shafi'i” was born in Gaza, Palestine in 8th Century. He was one of 4 Imams of Alhul sunnah wal jama'a. He founded the Shafi'i school of Islamic jurisprudence, one of the four major Sunni schools. He emphasised using the Qur'an, Hadith, consensus, and analogy in Islamic law. His fiqh is still lighting many people's hearts.
